Grandma's chess pie


Going to my Grandma's on Sunday after church as i child. i always remember having chess pie at the dinner table,this yummy custard filled pie is such a Southern staple .too make it even more special top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy



OLD FASHION CHESS OR LEMON CHESS PIE

6 egg yolks

1 c. sugar

1/2 c. butter

1/2 c. boiling water 1

/2 tsp. vanilla for vanilla chess

or 2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice for lemon
Beat eggs until foamy. Add sugar gradually then butter and boiling water pour into pie shell . Cook at 350 degrees until brown about one hour . Makes 2 pies.
